How are the teams formed? We try and form each team based on geographical location and coach selection. It is also based on when we receive your daughter’s registration form.
When is my daughter placed on a team and how will I know? The teams are formed the first week in April. We will hold a coaches meeting around the 15th of April and after that date you should receive information from a coach (allow a weeks time), if not, please call the Recreation Director.
What does my daughter wear? A STARS reversible jersey. If you have one from last year, you are set! Jerseys will be available from the Fort Collins Stars (223-5544) around May 18th. The cost will be around $17. Shorts, athletic shoes or cleats are recommended. Older girls that want to slide may want to wear sliding shorts and a sliding pad.
When are games and practices? The recreational league plays league games starting at the end of May through the end of the league tournament at the middle of July. All games are played during the week (Monday through Thursday) with rainout games played on a Friday scheduled by the recreation director. Practices are determined by the coach and usually start early to mid May.
How many games and practice per week? The 8 & under usually have one game a week and usually one practice with 8-10 total games. Can we put a team together? If it is early enough, it is okay to turn forms in together and request they be placed on the same team. Remember we may add players from the same school.
What equipment does my daughter need? All players need a glove, that fits well, and a water bottle. All other equipment (including batting helmets) is provided by the STARS club.
What is the age cut off? Softball uses a national rule. Whatever age your daughter is on January 1st is the division she is allowed to play in. There is absolutely no playing down an age division.
