Fort Collins Stars Modified B/C Softball  

This program will allow players to play games in the Indian Peaks league and also experience play at the competitive level. The purpose of this program is:

  • To allow individual players, with the desire to play at a competitive level, manage their time between other sports and school activities.
  • To allow players to play at a competitive level with a reasonable budget
  • To provide a means for individuals to improve their skills.
  • To provide a means for players to play at a higher skill level.
  • To help individual players decide their desire to play the game and at what level.
  • To develop players for future competitive teams.
  • To give the individual players and their parents a better understanding of the competitive level.
  • To assist with developing coaches for future competitive teams.


TEAMS

Modified teams will be offered in the 10U, 12U, 14U, and possibly 18U age divisions for the 2010 season.

  • The 10U team will consist of players 9 and 10 years of age as of January 1st 2010. Playing up in this age group will be discouraged and will need to be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • The 12U team will consist of players 11 and 12 years of age as of January 1st 2010. Playing up in this age group will be discouraged and will need to be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • The 14U team will consist of players 13 and 14 years of age as of January 1st 2010. Playing up in this age group will be discouraged and will need to be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • The 18U team will consist of players 15 and 18 years of age as of January 1st 2010. Playing up in this age group will be discouraged and will need to be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Each team will consist of a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 15 players.
  • Registration forms are due by February 28th.
  • Try outs for the modified teams will be held at the end of March. Place and time will be available at a later date.


COACHES

  • Each team will consist of a Head Coach and 1 or 2 assistant(s).
  • Each coach and their assistant will be required to complete a coach’s application and an interview process with the Board of Directors.
  • A back ground check will be ran on each coach and their assistant(s).
  • Monthly Indian Peak meetings will be held starting in September or October. Attendance is not mandatory but each coach should attend at least once.


SCHEDULE

  • Coaches will be able to receive the team’s equipment at the end of March.
  • Coaches will not be able to start practice until April 1st. (per Indian Peaks league rules)
  • Players can attend clinics at anytime before or during the season. (This is highly recommended) (Clinics will start in December)
  • Each team can participate in three “C” level tournaments which will be selected by the Board of Directors. These tournaments will be selected within the Northern Colorado region and will be based on previous reputations.
  • Each team will also play in the Indian Peaks League. They will play in the Northern Colorado region (Windsor, Greeley, Mead etc)
  • Ten to Sixteen games are offered by the Indian Peaks League. Half will be played in Fort Collins and the other half will be played in home town of opposing teams.
  • A beginning of the season tournament is offered by the Indian Peaks League and all teams are allowed to participate. (Mid April)
  • An end of the year tournament is also set up by the Indian Peaks League. The top three teams from each division are invited to this tournament. (Mid July)
  • Coaches will also have the opportunity of playing in several pick up games through out the season.
  • Each team has the possibility of playing in 15-25 games for the season.
  • The season will end in mid July 2010.


UNIFORMS

  • Each player will be required to purchase the required team uniform which will be selected by the Board of Directors.
  • The total cost per individual’s uniform will be maintained around $75.00
  • The uniform will consist of:
    • (1) pair softball pants      
    • (1) Softball jersey with number on back   
    • (2) Pair of all cotton socks     
    • Sliding pad (optional)      


EQUIPMENT

  • Softball Cleats will NOT be required but will be strongly recommended.
  • Each girl will be required to provide her own glove for every practice and game. The Fort Collins Stars have a few used gloves that are offered to all players.
  • Water bottles will also need to be provided by each player.
  • The Fort Collins Stars will provide:
    • Softballs
    • Softball Bats
    • Catchers equipment


FEES

  • Each player will be required to pay the Club fee at the time of registration. (approximately $105.00 to $110.00, dependant on age group)
  • Each player will be required to purchase the uniform as mentioned above. (approximately $75.00)
  • Each player will be required to pay for a portion of the tournament fees, which will be based on the tournament fees, divided the total number of players on the team. (approximately $105.00)
  • Each player will be required to pay for a portion of the registration fees for each affiliation which they participate in. These fees are based on the registration fees divided by the total number of players on the team. (approximately $7.00)
  • Each player will be required to pay for a portion of the practice field fees. These fees are based on the practice field costs divided by the total number of players on the team. (approximately $15.00)
  • The total amount of fees for each individual will be maintained around $300.00 to $350.00.
  • Scholarships are available for each qualifying player and must be received prior to February 28th. Scholarship forms are found on the FCStars web site.
